MOOD MACHINE LOUNGE
"Wasting my time"
Klaus Nomi cover

When we were asked to take part in this sort of Tribute project, "Klaus Nomi" was just a name we had somewhat somewhere in the back of our mind.
So we set off on a kind of artistic journey through his works, trying to grasp the essence of his many ways of expression, which are somehow right in the middle between the world of the opera and glam pop…
"Wasting my time" was the last track we listened to: the obsessive atmosphere created by the verse (which could seem a bit boring at first) drives the listener to the bridge and then to the chorus...
well, we just had to listen to it once to know that the chorus got the hook, THAT special rock hook.
What we did was strip it down to its roots…just vocals and clean guitar…and we found a "mood machine way" to enter Klaus Nomi's world.
The process developed into a re-construction and customization work, and layer after layer we produced this out-of-time funky-synth-pop-rock flavoured piece of music which features a male/female duet on vocals, harsh guitars and moog, real and synth drums, early 80s cold-techno-pop and danceable, rock atmospheres.
The final result could be labelled as "The glamorous No Doubt-Electric Six-Goldfrapp joint-venture"...
